RBS chief faces grilling in Wakefield IoD event

Yorkshire-born RBS chief, Stephen Hester, will talk candidly about his decisions to leave RBS at the end of the year when he speaks to members of West Yorkshire IoD and Wakefield Enterprise next week.

Talking at a lunchtime grilling at Wakefield Town Hall on July 12 the Easingwold born banker will outline the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) strategy for getting back into the black and how it wants to support business in the future.

Mr Hester is often regarded as the Marmite man of British business. Many loathe him. Few love him but no one sits on the fence about him. But in recent years he has proved that he is not afraid to face his critics and answer them.

As the head of nationalised RBS his job is to get the 84 per cent taxpayer-owned bank back into the black in preparation for a return to private ownership.

Mr Hester will explain the role he believes RBS has to play in the future of British business and the part it can play in helping fuel the economy to boost growth and create wealth for all

Also taking part will be the man who would be chancellor, Ed Balls, MP for Outwood and Morley. They will both speak before taking questions at the lunchtime event at Wakefield Town Hall on Friday July 12 at 11.30am.
