Robin Hood Airport becomes Doncaster Chamber patron

Yorkshire’s Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield has strengthened its partnership with the Doncaster Chamber of Commerce by becoming a patron.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “Becoming a patron offers major profile-raising opportunities and provides the opportunity for the airport to access and network with politicians and their advisers, senior business figures, as well as other patrons and Chamber members.

“We have worked closely with the Chamber over recent months and a visit from the Department for Transport, which saw business leaders from across the city region get together to discuss issues facing them, was a fantastic stepping stone to getting our messages heard.

“This coupled with the Chambers’ recently published Manifesto for Growth which highlights the ways in which the airport can grow to support the region and the support it has from the region’s business community, have been a welcomed boost for the airport.”

Doncaster Sheffield Airport, which recently celebrated its eighth birthday, has flights to over 30 destinations including Spain, Turkey, Poland, the Canaries and Egypt.

Dan Fell, deputy chief executive at Doncaster Chamber, said: “The Chamber and airport have a long and historical relationship which has included the Chamber supporting the planning application for the airport at a public enquiry, working with the airport on route development and promotion activities, and supporting last year’s successful bid to secure Regional Growth Fund monies for the critical FARRRS link road.

“We are delighted that Doncaster Sheffield Airport has accepted our invitation to become Patrons of the Chamber and look forward to working with the airport’s top team on a range of key projects over the coming months.”

The airport joins the Chamber’s ten other current patrons –including Yorkshire Bank, Keepmoat, Polypipe, Hesley Group and Westfield Health.
