Economic research discussed by CWLEP

A major piece of economic research in Coventry and Warwickshire has been discussed by the Local Enterprise Partnership.

The Driving Growth report which was carried out by Centre for Cities in partnership with the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) highlighted investment in private sector research and development in the sub-region is twice the UK average per business.

The detailed study also believes the area would benefit from a new Business Innovation and Growth Hub to give businesses access to the practical support needed for more growth.

Warwick and Leamington MP Chris White joined CWLEP board member Nick Abell and chief executive Martin Yardley at Serious Games International in Coventry along with Dr Richard Hutchins from the Warwick Manufacturing Group, Angela Tellyn from the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and Andrew Carter from Centre for Cities to debate the findings.

Yardley said: “It was an informative and interesting discussion about the Centre for Cities report which has emphasised the abundance of innovative companies we have in Coventry and Warwickshire.

“We must make sure we provide the right conditions to continue to foster innovation among businesses of all sizes as well as improving opportunities for growth through supply chains to benefit SMEs as well as larger companies.”
