Investors in People Gold Celebrations for Shelley College

Celebrations are in order for staff at Shelley College as they achieve Investors in People Gold at their first ever IiP assessment!

Investors in People Gold represents achievement of world-class best practice, acknowledging a truly cutting edge organisation operating at the very highest levels of people management practice that is using Investors in People to drive forward.

Just under 4% of Investors in People organisations nationally achieve Gold accreditation with only 102 of these being schools or colleges based in the North of England – of which Shelley College now join.

Investors in People is designed to support any type of organisation to realise its people potential and improve performance. Over a period of 4 ½ days a cross section of Shelley College employees were interviewed to assess the school against the Investors in People framework.

David Clegg, the school’s Investors in People Specialist stated in the report:

“There are many good things going on in the college of which the Governors, Leadership Team and staff alike should be proud of. These include:

  • Buddying system for new staff
  • Senior Leadership Team feedback on each other’s’ qualities
  • High level of teamwork
  • The Chimp Management Programme
  • Data management“

Helen Cuthill, HR Manager at Shelley College said:

“We are delighted to achieve IiP Gold and believe it illustrates our principles of valuing people and supporting personal best.“

John McNally, Principal, said:

“I am thrilled that we have achieved this award. The people who study and work at our college are our greatest assets. This demonstrates our on-going commitment to helping them develop to their full potential.“
