Leeds medical software specialists encouraged by Hunt's vision

Leeds-based medical software outfit, EMIS Group, say they are encouraged by Jeremy Hunt’s plans to create a more joined up health service.

In an trading update the company say they have continued to increase revenue and profits during the first half of the year, and extended their market share.

The firm provide patient records software to GPs and pharmacies and their ‘RX Systems’ product, which links the two, has enjoyed continued market success.

Political uncertainty in Australia had impacted progress on EMIS’ Australian defence contract.

Chris Spencer, CEO, said: “The first half of 2013 continued to be very busy for EMIS Group. We maintained the pace of the roll-out to GPs of EMIS Web, our transformational healthcare system, and RX Systems deepened its market penetration. The effect of the NHS reorganisation, which took place on 1 April, has been as expected.

“We were encouraged by recent comments by Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, when he said that we need to work differently to respond to the changing needs of the population and that means making joined-up services the norm, not the exception. EMIS continues to be uniquely placed to deliver this vision.”
