Sunderland City Council goes mobile and gets social
Sunderland City Council has unveiled a brand new fully interactivewebsite that has been designed to improve the Council’s digital presence.
Guerilla Communications, based in Newcastle, was tasked with creating a fresh, clean and spacious website that needed to be easy to navigate, read and digest.
Deputy Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Henry Trueman, said: “The newly redesigned website will provide visitors with a much better experience while online. We needed a solution that would provide specific information in a personalised way to a number of different audiences, this website provides exactly that. The result is a vastly improved experience for both external and internal users which include employees, residents, visitors and councillors.”
Importantly, Guerilla added mobile functionality to the website so people can receive the information they want, how they want it and when they want to regardless of what device they’re using - whether it’s a mobile phone, a tablet or a laptop.
The social aspect is also a key function of the new site – it is fully integrated with the Council’s social media channels which include Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Overall, the entire look and feel of the website has improved and it’s a much more easier and enjoyable experience when viewing the site or going to the site for a specific reason such as to pay a bill, report a housing problem or apply for a school place. The homepage features the most popular activities that people are using the site for and are now accessible on a PC or mobile device.
Leanne Johnson, Digital Director at Guerilla, added: “It’s great to see the new site go live and it will be important to monitor how well the improved design meets the needs of those who visit and use the site often. It’s been great to get under the skin ofSunderland City Council’s website and we hope our remodelling of it will ensure the website becomes, and remains, a valued resource to all stakeholders.”
