MPE Interiors post record turnover
Merseyside manufacturer, MPE Interiors, has posted its strongest annual trading results since it was established in 2001.
The firm, which offers refurbishment services in manufacturing, supply, installation, repair and the maintenance of interiors, experienced a peak in turnover from £1.5m to £2.5m over the last 12 months.
Founded by co-directors Cliff Grainger and John Whetnall, the business said growth had been driven by increased demand over its core sectors, including maritime, commercial and residential property.
MPE now employs its 50th staff member, with a workforce that includes sub contractors, an apprentice and four former apprentices who became fully-qualified tradesmen at the firm.
Mr Grainger commented: “Our marine division has had its most successful year and we are keen to build on this. We want to expand the business and win more work in both the military and commercial marine market in the North West and across the UK and Europe.
“We are especially keen to promote the calibre of our bespoke furniture manufacturer and installation services to the superyacht market.”
Both Mr Grainger and Mr Whetnall previously worked at Cammell Laird, and now collaborate with their former employer.
“The last 12 months has seen us continue to work closely with Cammell Laird and other key commercial marine clients including ferry operators.
“For Cammell Laird we have worked on the HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH aircraft carrier flight decks contract, including manufacturing enormous plywood weather protection units to guard the nine modules as they were transported by barge from Cammell Laird to Rosyth on the East Coast of Scotland.
“We have also worked for Cammell Laird on its contract for Through Life Support of the Royal Fleet Auxiliaries”
