Residents to get pedalling at DurhamGate

DurhamGate, County Durham’s leading regeneration project, has launched a new bicycle loan scheme to encourage residents to use pedal power for their journeys around the local area.

Delivered by Life@DurhamGate, the Concierge Service led by Helen Attley, the initiative offers the use of DurhamGate-branded bikes free of charge to people living or working at DurhamGate.

Residents can book the bikes through the DurhamGate Development Centre with booking details available from the Life@DurhamGate web site www.lifeatdurhamgate.com

Life@DurhamGate, is a hub for community activities and features news, information, offers and competitions for residents.

DurhamGate, which is five miles south of Durham City, is home to a number of businesses and organisations, which, between them, already employ over 1,000 people.

Among them is community housing organisation livin, which has relocated its Head Quarters to DurhamGate. Neighbours include Stanley Black & Decker European Research and Development facility and Thorn Lighting.

As well as business residents DurhamGate features a growing number of new homes. Already over 140 are being delivered by Taylor Wimpey and Yuill Homes with more planned in the future.

In addition, DurhamGate’s ‘Design a Home’ scheme is attracting discerning buyers looking to create their own individual space at the prestigious entrance to the residential quarter. Aspiring homeowners who want to design their own property can do so confidently with support and assistance from the DurhamGate

‘Design a Home’ team of experts.

Created through a partnership between Carillion plc, and regional property business, Arlington Real Estate, DurhamGate will feature commercial, living, retail and leisure facilities.

With £45million of investment already committed DurhamGate has established itself as a landmark regeneration project.

The scheme has been championed by Durham Councillor and Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration, Neil Foster.
