Boutique Benton gym bulks up its fitness team

Benton-based luxury gym and lifestyle centre, Sound Mind and Body has strengthened its fitness offering by appointing a new personal trainer to the team.

Niyc Pidgeon from Jesmond has joined the boutique fitness emporium as a personal trainer following her return to the North East having lived in both Holland and Australia for two years.

26-year-old Niyc said: “I’ve been working in personal training since 2005 after spending some time in Australia with my partner, who is a professional cricket player, and discovering how much I enjoyed being involved in sport and working out. I’d originally planned to become a mechanical engineer but thought my passion for exercise was too much to ignore and wanted to build a career around this instead – so that’s exactly what I did.”

Niyc is a qualified fitness instructor (level 2) and personal trainer (level 3) and also has a BSc degree in Psychology with Sport Sciences and a MSc degree in Positive Psychology.

Niyc adds: “I love the whole ethos of Sound Mind and Body and the fact it offers so many valuable and complementary services all in one place – from personal training to nutrition coaching to beauty services. There’s really everything you need for a truly sound mind and body.

“Plus the boutique style surroundings and the fantastic team they have create a great working environment whilst also providing a nice atmosphere for our clients.”
