Durham manufacturers invest £95k in expansion

Durham aluminium welding and fabrication specialists, Hiatco, have started a £95k expansion of their Annfield Plain facility.

The redevelopment of their existing factory and office will treble the size of the facility, adding a canteen and changing facilities for Hiatco’s 20 strong work force.

The company is now in the hands of Alan Davison following the death of former managing director, Tony Sun.

Tony’s son, Paul, who runs London-based event company, Pink Buddha, is also involved at a strategic level.

Paul said: “My father has built a wonderful team over the last ten years and with Alan in charge of business operations it leaves me free to concentrate on the company’s finances and strategy. Hiatco is here to stay; with a young and dynamic workforce it is my intention to grow the business over the coming years.”

Blue Box Management Consultants Ltd were employed back in March 2013 and have already delivered the strategic business plan covering the next few years and are now working on phase two - the implementation of the business development action plan.

Hiatco’s core offering is manufacturing, repairing and certifying temporary access equipment for the overhead power line industry including working platforms; spacer chairs which carry operators; replacement parts; jump chairs; armour rod baskets & pole platforms all made from aluminium.

Today they supply clients all over the UK, Europe and Australia. They also work in the Oil & Gas; Marine and Aviation sectors.
