Jones Melling secure contract with London synagogue

Chartered surveying firm, Jones Melling, has been appointed to the final phase of refurbishments at The Liberal Jewish Synagogue in St John’s Wood, London.

The North West company will head up a modernisation and refurbishment project for the meeting and function rooms at the synagogue, as well as the office accommodation and circulation space, alongside a completely new office development.

Work will begin on the latest stage of construction this month, and follows previous work carried out by Jones Melling for the synagogue.

Since 2009, the chartered surveyors have compiled and undertaken an asbestos management plan, fire risk assessment, numerous building surveys, building extensions and modifications.

Gary Melling, joint founder and managing director at Jones Melling, commented: “The latest phase of development marks another significant milestone in our longstanding relationship with The Liberal Jewish Synagogue.

“Over the last four years, we have been involved with multiple modifications and undertaken smaller projects, such as roof replacement and defect analysis.

“In addition, we have assisted in helping the synagogue to better utilise the space and assist in bringing the religious building up to modern standards.”

He went on: “This is a really unique project, as we have to ensure works are conducted with the utmost respect for the religious surroundings, while maintaining the most stringent standards of health and safety.

“We’re delighted to be continuing this successful partnership with LJS.”

Tony Weiss, chair of the LJS building and facilities committee, added: “We continue to be impressed by Jones Melling’s professionalism.

“Not only is the team extremely easy to work with but they have delivered above and beyond at each stage of this project.”
