Growth at meat producer Cranswick
Hull-based meat producer, Cranswick, has reported strong growth as turnover for the three months to July was 10% up on the year before.
The producer of pork products, cooked-meats and sandwiches said total sales over the three months were 12% higher after the recent acquisition of two rivals.
Cranswick acquired Kingston Foods on June 29 and “modest third party sales” were made by Wayland Farms Limited (“Wayland Farms”), formerly East Anglian Pigs Limited, which was acquired on April 29 2013.
An increase in pig prices to record highs was absorbed through cost-saving measures and strong volumes.
Cranswick recently completed a new gourmet pastry facility at Malton, North Yorkshire, that has started production of a range of pastry products. Work has also started on extending the firm’s Delico cooked meats facility in Milton Keynes.
Earlier this month Kate Allum, CEO of First Milk Limited, joined the Cranswick Board as a non-executive director.
