World-cup referee unveils broker's new look in Crook
A World Cup referee has launched a new-look for Crook’s premier mortgage and insurance broker.
Mapps Mortgage and Insurance’s new branding was unveiled for the first time this week by local legend George Courtney.
George is famous for refereeing at two World Cups (Mexico 86 / Italia 90) and three European finals and was awarded an MBE for his services to football.
George, who celebrated 50 years as a referee last month, said: “Mapps is a family firm that has served the area for more than two decades, so it’s great to see them continuing to prosper in challenging times.
“I was delighted to be asked to officially unveil the Mapps make-over and come along and meet with the staff and customers. The new image is much more modern and really makes Mapps stand out. They’ve managed to create a strong look but one that’s still personal and welcoming.”
The idea for the makeover came after brother and sister Directors Peter Mapp and Vivienne Page became the only mortgage and full service insurance broker remaining in the area. The rebrand includes a new logo as well as a striking new shop interior and exterior.
Peter said; “After 20 years in business and as the only full-service mortgage and insurance broker remaining in Crook we thought the time was right to invest in updating our image. We wanted to create a modern and fresh identity but one that still reflects the company’s original values.
“We’re really proud of being a family firm that offers a personal service for local people, providing expertise and friendly advice. We’re thrilled with the make-over as the business was looking a little tired and outdated. We’ve received lots of positive feedback from local people and staff, which is great.”
“George (Courtney) was an obvious choice for the unveiling as he is a local legend and we have a family connection that dates back many years. My dad and George were both referees so became good friends. My dad didn’t referee at a World Cup but he did officiate at Wembley and even Athletico Madrid in his career.”
Mapps provides independent mortgage and general and commercial insurance advice and has served the areas of Crook, Bishop Auckland and the surroundings areas of County Durham since 1990.
