Tadea move to employee ownership model

Billingham-based sustainability experts Tadea have become employee owned as the organisation gears up for growth.

Tadea Limited will fall under the umbrella of Tadea-UK, an employee-owned group of companies providing specialist, sustainable project management and advice services.

The new group also includes Tadea Limited and Washington-based sustainable driver training organisation, Effective Transport Solutions.

A number of employees have been elected onto the main board as staff directors and also as Trustee directors.

All staff will now have the opportunity to buy and own shares and vote on a number of strategic decisions that will determine the future of the business.

Steve Hunter, Tadea-UK’s chairman, said :“We believe that the benefits of making this move to employee ownership will be immense. Not only will it ensure greater staff participation and higher levels of involvement in company decision making, but we feel it will lead to more efficient communication – both internally and externally – and also further raise team spirit and motivation.

“The launch of Tadea-UK will be smooth and we will continue to deliver our services to the high standards we are renowned for. We’ve been working towards this switch for a long time – it is a huge step forward and a move which, I believe, will only enhance the reputation we have worked so hard to build in the sustainability sector over the past decade.”

Malcolm Potter, a commercial energy assessor and one of Tadea-UK’s newly-appointed employee directors, said: “We feel that this change will help to ensure that all employees have a hand in helping Tadea-UK develop as we look to expand our carbon reduction operations across Britain.

“By increasing levels of employee participation in our decision making processes, we feel that we will better harness the energy, experience and ideas of all members of staff here. It is an exciting time, and I have no doubt that the switch to employee ownership will be an advantageous one, not just for Tadea-UK, but for the organisations we currently work with and also those we will find ourselves working alongside in the months and years ahead.”
