Yorkshire's Hydro-X Water Treatment opens in Hertfordshire

A South Yorkshire firm that provides water and air treatment services to major businesses across the UK has ramped up its expansion plans with the opening of a new Hertfordshire site, helping to create more than 10 new jobs this year and boost turnover by almost £1m over the next 18 months.

Hydro-X Water Treatment specialises in inspecting and maintaining equipment that uses water such as industrial cooling towers and steam boilers.

It also maintains safe water supplies for commercial applications, helping its business customers to comply with health and safety legislation. Its customers include the NHS, energy firms and national retailers.

Founded in 1984 the company is based near Sheffield, and the new property on the Abbotts Business Park in Kings Langley will act as the firm’s southern headquarters.

Having doubled in size over the last four years to generate a turnover of around £5m, Hydro-X Water Treatment is already on course to reach £6m this year, partly driven by the new site.

Paul Wilson, marketing manager for Hydro-X Water Treatment, said: “We’ve had a satellite office servicing the southern region for many years, but due to the dramatic growth we’ve had in the south it made sense to establish a permanent presence here and one with space for our technicians and engineers to operate out of over a wider area.”

Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking provided the funds to purchase the Kings Langley site under the Government-backed Funding for Lending Scheme (FLS) loan, having supported the company in previous expansions.
