Flying high at Lingfield Point!
Some businesspeople had their heads in the cloud while their feet were firmly on the ground!
Yorkshire Gliding Club had its gliding simulator at Lingfield Point for three days, offering customers the chance to take a flight.
Eddie Humphries, Lingfield Point’s estate manager, said:“ I was really keen to have a go – it’s a pretty unusual thing to do in your lunch hour or tea break!
“They say that gliding is the closest experience there is to being a bird because there’s no motor noise.
“I’d have to say it felt really serene but I suppose if it was the real thing the silence might be broken by my heartbeat!
“The idea was really in keeping with the way of life at Lingfield Point. It’s quirky and as no fuel is involved very green too. As Europe’s biggest sustainable mixed-use development, it was a fitting activity for us to offer.”
One lucky adventurer also won a free lesson at the club which is based at Sutton Bank in North Yorkshire.
The Bank is ideal for gliding because of the prevailing westerly winds and one-in-four gradient.
