Persimmon plan 430 Newcastle homes

York-based housebuilder, Persimmon Homes has announced plans to build on Newcastle Great Park.

The housebuilder has secured permission to build a further 430 homes on land that was previously approved for office development.

Persimmon now aim to complete around 150 homes over the next 12 months, growing their involvement in the Great Park Consortium, that also includes rival housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Barratt.

Great Park is growing with the completion of a school and nursery, as well as a multi-use games area and sports pitches scheduled for early next year.

The 1,200 acre site is roughly three miles to the north of Newcastle city centre, and serviced by the A1.

Peter Jordan, divisional strategic land director for Persimmon Homes, said: “A critical part of our strategy is the continued investment in new land and making best use of the land we already have to support the growth of Persimmon within the North East.

“We will always respond positively to the market and this is evident at Newcastle Great Park where we have ensured range and choice for all. Partnership working with Newcastle City Council has been an important part of this and we remain committed to continue our good work to see the community grow and thrive.”
