Deloitte reports healthy growth in North West divisions

International accountancy firm Deloitte saw revenues in the North West grow by 4% to £128m in the year to the end of May.

The firm, which has around 700 employees in Manchester and 80 in Liverpool, said the last 12 months had been a “year of investment for growth” in the region. Deloitte said all four of its core business areas, tax, audit, corporate finance and consulting had grown over the last 12 months demonstrating a “sustained performance”.

During the year, the firm’s audit practice won two key accounts including Amey UK, a UK subsidiary of Ferrovial, following the acquisition of Enterprise; and also MPM Products, the fast-growing pet food manufacturer in Macclesfield.

The team was further strengthened by the appointment of partner Chris Robertson, who moved from the firm’s Midlands practice to take on the role of north west head of audit.

In tax, the north west practice advised on a wide range of deals ranging from the $3bn (£1.9bn) acquisition of Pringles by Kellogg’s to Ferrovial’s acquisition of Leyland-based Enterprise.

The region’s corporate finance team also enjoyed a busy year advising on some of the key deals in the region.

These included the sale of Air Energi for Palatine Private equity; LDC’s investment into Bolton law firm Keoghs; the acquisition of workplace childcare provider KidsUnlimited by US group Bright Horizons Family Solutions; ICG’s acquisition of travel management company ATPI; and the buyout of Jigsaw Holdings, one of the first deals backed by northern-focussed private equity firm NorthEdge Capital.
