Jones Myers team expansion boosts contentious trusts expertise

Leeds and Essex specialist family law firm Jones Myers LLP is further strengthening its contentious trusts and estates expertise with the appointment of lawyer Laura Short to manage the firm’s growing client portfolio.

Ms Short joins the firm from Taylor & Emmet just four months after partner Martin Holdsworth set up a new private client services team at the niche practice founded by leading UK divorce lawyer Peter Jones.

Mr Holdsworth, listed as a key individual in industry bible Chambers for specialising in contentious private client matters, said: “Laura’s appointment is the cornerstone of our ambitious plans to establish an outstanding department that compliments the firm’s family and financial remedies expertise. Laura’s enthusiasm and particular expertise in wills and probate litigation will be invaluable.”

Laura Short, who graduated in law from Newcastle University, lives in Doncaster.

Jones Myers champions mediation and collaboration as highly successful, alternative approaches to resolving issues arising from separation. Partners Peter Jones and Fiona Kendall, who is dual qualified in English and Scottish law and consultant David McHardy and are all trained mediators.
