18th Century Yorkshire hotel up for sale for £1m

An 18th Century listed Yorkshire hotel has been placed on the market with a £1m price tag.

The Bell Hotel, in Driffield, East Yorkshire, has been put up for sale by owners George and Rita Rigg after 38 years of ownership.

The hotel has 22 bedrooms, along with a bar and restaurant featuring a menu of 300 different whiskies, its own leisure club, spa facilities, gym, swimming pool, a meeting room and a squash court.

Its turnover is circa £730,000 net of vat and is selling the freehold at a guide price of £1 million.

The husband and wife team Mr and Mrs Riggs, who have also ran the business, are now looking to hand the reins over to a new owner.

Specialist property advisers Christie + Co have been brought in to market the Best Western hotel on behalf of the owners

David Lee at Christie said: “We are delighted that George and Rita have chosen Christie + Co as their adviser to sell The Best Western Bell Hotel.

“After 38 years of ownership we understand this was a difficult decision for our clients to sell the hotel. The Bell Hotel is an excellent business which has many different attributes.”
