Development firm in line for industry award
A development company is on course to secure a major industry award for its health and safety standards.
For nine years running, Gus Robinson Developments has been presented with the Gold Award from the safety charity the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in recognition of its approach to occupational health and safety.
It now means the Hartlepool company is in line for the President’s Award in 2014 if it continues to maintain its high standards.
Michelle Boylan, health and safety co-ordinator at Gus Robinson Developments, said: “To win the Gold Award nine years running is great and speaks volumes of the health and safety culture within the company.
“Our challenge now is to continue our extremely high standards over the next year so we can attain the President’s Award, which for a company of our size would be a massive boost. The recipients of this award are usually big multi-national businesses so it would be a huge honour for us if we were to win it.”
To be eligible for the Gold Award, part of the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards, Gus Robinson Developments had to submit detailed evidence of its site work, risk assessment processes, staff and its overall health and safety record.
Dating back 57 years, the RoSPA awards scheme is the largest and longest running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types from across the UK and overseas.
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “RoSPA firmly believes that organisations which demonstrate commitment to continuous improvements in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. Gus Robinson Developments has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”
Past recipients of the President’s Award include Amec, Heerema, Shell Gannet Alpha and Morrisons.
