Deadline extended for independent business showcase
The deadline for nominations for the inaugural Merseyside Independent Business Awards has been extended due to a surge in demand.
Launched for the first time this year, the MIB awards aim to celebrate the region’s rich abundance of successful independent businesses.
The nomination deadline was due to expire on Monday 19th August, however, such has been the level of interest from businesses across Merseyside, this has now been moved to 5pm on Wednesday August 21.
The winner of the main prize will collect an impressive 12-month business support package including legal advice from law firm Morecrofts and a concentrated promotional air time campaign with Radio City 96.7, worth around £5,000.
Bay TV is also lending its support to the initiative, which is intended to acknowledge the importance of the independent business community in Merseyside and help to forge relationships and build a platform for independent businesses to thrive, imparting a legacy for future local entrepreneurs.
Event organisers are working with local stakeholders to ensure the campaign is comprehensive, measurable and inclusive of all types of business, irrespective of size, sector or geographic location.
There will be a number of awards including best manufacturing business and best retail business, along with special awards to recognise growth, innovation and investment into communities.
The awards are being backed by Morecrofts, one of the city’s oldest independent law firms which is currently celebrating its 200th anniversary year.
Helen Broughton, managing partner at Morecrofts Solicitors, says: “The Merseyside Independent Business Awards have proven extremely popular among businesses of all shapes and sizes from across the city region.
“Many have recognised that this is a unique opportunity for businesses that might often go under the radar to achieve the recognition that they deserve.
“The high level of interest has prompted us to extend the deadline by a few days to ensure that anyone wishing to nominate themselves, their acquaintances, clients or suppliers has ample chance to do so.”
A panel of professional adjudicators will identify a shortlist ahead of an awards dinner held on Thursday 3rd October at The Secret Space in Water St.
