Retail giants, jobs + sports stars flock to Leeds
Leeds will today become home to another flagship store as famous names from the world of rugby and football gather to open sportswear giant, Adidas, in Trinity Leeds.
The Leeds store will be Adidas’ biggest outside of London and will create 34 new jobs.
Kevin Sinfield and Danny Maguire, from Leeds Rhinos, and Stephen Warnock and Lee Peltier from Leeds United will officially open the store later today.
The new Adidas flagship will be the only one outside of London to sell Stella McCartney’s range of sportswear as well as its own-brand products, some of which will be exclusive to Leeds.
The opening is a further boost to the new £350 million shopping and leisure centre with the company selecting Leeds as its regional flagship thanks to the city’s passion for football, rugby and also cycling ahead of the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire in 2014.
Also opening today is lifestyle and performance footwear brand Skechers, famous for its range of shoes, fitness apparel, bags, watches and eyewear.
These two new shop openings add to brands already trading in Trinity Leeds such as Marks and Spencer, Mango, Hollister, Superdry and Topshop and, later this month , the line up will grow further with the opening of US underwear giant, Victoria’s Secret.
Paul Smith, marketing manager at Trinity Leeds, said: “With its great sporting heritage, famous university and reputation for being an exciting fashion hub, Leeds is a key city for new brands like Adidas and Skechers. We’re really excited about welcoming both new brands to the ever growing list of shops on offer at Trinity Leeds and can’t wait to hear the reaction from shoppers and sports fans alike.”
