Jobs boom at online fashion store
Manchester-based online fashion retailer boohoo.com is creating 50 jobs following success overseas success.
The firm, which launched in 2006, said the full-time permanent positions will be based atits head office in the Northern Quarter and at its warehouse site in Burnley.
Since launching its services for shoppers in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand during the last year, the compnay has enjoyed “exponential growth’.
Kathy Allison, head of HR at boohoo.com, said: “It is a really exciting time for the company. In 2012, we recruited and inducted over 130 permanent team members to the boohoo family.
“We have been in business for six years and started with a mere four employees. Today, we employ over 600 permanent and temporary staff. To manage this growth the HR team itself has increased from one in 2010 to seven a strong team today.
“We now receive up to 1,000 direct applicants a month through our careers page and are excited to continue our expansion in 2013. The business is very proud of the work that we have been doing to make boohoo a great place to work- we have some fantastic people coming through our doors.
The company, which now has customers in more than 100 countries, expects a busy year ahead with the imminent launch into other European markets. Describing itself as “aimed at the fashion forward”, Boohoo.com offers affordable clothing and accessories.
Sophie Lockard, online marketing manager, said: “Online shopping has fast become an easy choice for savvy shoppers during the economic downturn, it is great to see companies thriving in this industry and giving back by offering more permanent jobs across the UK.
“This year has also seen our official launch into menswear, further increasing our online presence and competitive edge in the e-tail market.”
