Graduate appointment at design firm
A Northumberland-based design company that works with high-profile clients such as Barbour, SCM Pharma and Hardy and Grey’s has recruited 26-year-old design graduate, Tom Blackett from Whitley Bay to assist with the demand for its custom exhibition stand and design services.
Operating for over 18 years, JBH Design and Exhibitions was a pioneer in 3D stand design and builds large-scale interior projects. It now has nine in-house staff and operates globally, helping UK clients at international trade shows and exhibitions.
Steve Butters, owner and managing director explained: “What really impressed me about Tom was his creativity and enthusiasm toward large-scale design. It is very rare that you find someone straight from University with enough life experience and raw talent, but Tom has just that.
“He has already been tasked with many high-profile clients such as Romag and Gentoo, and has delivered excellent results time and time again.”
On his appointment Blackett, who holds a BA Honours degree in Design & Art Direction said: “The opportunity to work at JBH excited me due to the variety and exceptional quality of its work. The amount of creative direction I already have over certain projects is outstanding and I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge. Seeing a large project through from initial concept to finished build is amazing. The metamorphosis from scribbles on paper to a finished product is truly satisfying.”
“I am ambitious in nature and always want to surpass clients’ expectations by delivering over and above the call of duty. JBH allows me to do that.
“I’d say the highlight so far has been working in partnership with The Works to produce an exhibition stand for Gentoo which was awarded ‘Stand of the Year’ at the Chartered Institute of Housing Exhibition 2013 in Manchester.”
Before his appointment at JBH Design and Exhibitions, Tom showed entrepreneurial spirit whilst studying at Manchester School of Art. Setting up his own graphic design company, he worked primarily with local bands and musicians, creating effective promotional materials to help raise their regional and industry profiles.
JBH Design and Exhibitions has worked with clients both locally and internationally, helping them make a real impact at world trade events and exhibitions. The team prides itself on being there for its clients from the initial concept briefing to the final delivery and installation. The expert team has an expansive background in commercial and creative design and visualisation, engineering and bespoke fabrication.
