North West man for Deloitte's top manufacturing job
Deloitte has appointed North West-based Mark Stephenson as leader of its UK and Switzerland manufacturing industry practice.
Mark previously worked as head of North West tax and developed Deloitte’s dealings with large multinational manufacturing groups.
The North West tax practice will be led by Andy Wilde who is also head of international tax for Deloitte for the whole of Europe, Middle East and Africa, and has been based in Manchester for several years.
Mark Stephenson said: “I am very proud and excited to be leading such a great team, with its extensive breadth of consulting and professional advisory skills. Manufacturing in the UK has developed extensively in the recent past and the vibrant and diverse sector we see today is almost unrecognisable compared to a decade ago.
“During this time we have invested heavily in our own practice and are pleased to count some of the UK’s biggest manufacturing names, as well as a huge range of small and medium enterprises, among our client base.”
Mark will continue to work with North West manufacturers, assisting them with new growth opportunities and exporting.
Patrick Loftus, senior partner of Deloitte’s North West practice, said: “Mark has grown and developed an extremely strong tax team in the North West, and as an expert in manufacturing he was the perfect choice to lead the practice across the UK and Switzerland.
“His work from the North West office means that he will be able to provide continued support to the world-class manufacturing client base that operate from the region, as well as dealing with projects further afield. We’re also pleased to put the leadership of the tax team in Manchester into the very capable hands of Andy Wilde.”
Andy Wilde said: “I am delighted to return to the role of head of North West tax. Having been based in Manchester for many years, I care passionately about our business and about the continued growth and development of our Tax team. I am very excited about the opportunity to contribute to the future success of the North West practice more directly once again, and to be spending more time here.”
Mark has also made two new appointments to the manufacturing executive team. Jeremy Berwick will lead the aerospace and defence practice and Simon Manning has been appointed head of audit.
Deloitte’s manufacturing practice provides audit, consulting, tax and corporate finance services across the manufacturing sectors; including aerospace and defence, automotive, process and industrial products.
