Grayling North PR wins National Grid contract

Leeds-based Grayling North PR has been appointed by National Grid to support the company’s community relations activities on infrastructure projects across the North of England.

The community relations roster supports a wide range of projects including building connections to the grid for new sources of low carbon energy, replacing old equipment at the end of its life and remediating contaminated former gas works sites.

The initial contract is for two years and will see Grayling North work with National Grid’s project teams across the region to engage with all key communities and stakeholders affected by their work.

National Grid is currently investing £2-3bn a year in its electricity and gas networks to keep the country connected to the energy that is so crucial to society.

Speaking of the new contract, Christine Emmingham, head of Grayling North, said: “I am delighted that Grayling North has been appointed to the National Grid community relations roster.

“We have a strong track record of effectively engaging with local communities and stakeholder groups and we look forward to working with National Grid to deliver targeted community relations programmes.”

Roseanne Battye, National Grid external affairs and regional engagement manager, said: “The agencies on the roster will play a vital role in one of Britain’s biggest challenges: to secure affordable energy, while meeting low-carbon energy targets and connecting communities to new sources of energy.

“This unprecedented level of investment will touch many communities around the country. Good communication is essential – not just explaining our plans but listening so local views can help shape them.”

Grayling North is an award-winning PR agency based in Leeds, working across Yorkshire, the North West, the North East and nationally.

Part of Grayling Communications, which has offices across the UK, Grayling North has operated in Yorkshire for over 25 years.
