Mersey brewers getting a taste of the Orient
A Merseyside brewery is to have its products displayed at an exclusive trade event in China.
Liverpool Organic Brewery is one of only 12 UK companies, and the only one in the North of England, to be represented at the Guizhou International Wine and Spirit Expo.
The Firm, based in Kirkdale, will showcase bottles of its Shipwreck IPA, an occasional amber ale said to provide “malty caramel notes and with citrus orange and hoppy bitterness”.
The delegation is being led by Rejuvenate Your Business, which is taking items from a dozen food and drink businesses across the UK to the event, which runs from September 9 to 12.
Mark Hensby, managing director at Liverpool Organic Brewery, said: “Over the past few years, we have seen a steady increase in online demand for our beers from the Chinese market.
“This opportunity will provide us with greater visibility and establish our credentials, which will hopefully give us further traction among the lucrative trade sector.”
Shazan Qureshi, director of success at Rejuvenate Your Business, said: “There is an established, expanding appetite in China for high quality, British-made products and we will be taking a selection of the best up-and-coming producers to the convention.
“Liverpool as a city has worked hard to forge strong links with this market and we’re confident that Liverpool Organic Brewery will be a popular choice among delegates at the event.”
Liverpool Organic Brewery was established in 2008 with the clear objective of producing great-tasting beers using the best ingredients, a philosophy captured within its maxim, ‘Quality over Compromise’.
Its products range includes a number of beers dedicated to ‘Liverpool Heroes’ such as William Roscoe and Joseph Williamson and it now provides cask and bottled beers to customers across the UK.
