New chairman for Marketing Manchester
Iwan Griffiths, the North West chairman of professional services firm PwC, has been appointed chairman of Marketing Manchester.
Mr Griffiths joined PwC in 1994 and has since held leadership roles in the UK, South Korea and Japan before being appointed as North West Chairman in 2012.
Based in PwC’s Manchester office, he currently leads a team of over 700 staff across the firm’s Manchester and Liverpool offices.
As chairman of Marketing Manchester, he will oversee the agency’s board as well as attend board meetings of the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership.
Collette Roche, HR director for Manchester Airports Group (MAG), who was involved in the recruitment process, said: “Marketing Manchester play a vital role in promoting the city and all it has to offer on an international scale.
“Manchester is a brand recognised around the world and that’s important as we look to develop our business and tourism links as a European city of standing.
“Iwan and his team will play a vital role in developing that brand even further and ensuring we see even more visitors coming to our region.”
Iwan Griffiths said: “I look forward to working with the team to make sure Manchester continues to be an attractive choice for investment.
I hope to bring a global perspective to the role and use my international and UK networks to support the agency in promoting the city on an international and UK stage.
“The role as chairman of Marketing Manchester echoes my role at PwC as both organisations share a common goal - to help make the region successful. By taking on this role I hope to personally show my support for Manchester and its long-term growth.”
Griffiths succeeds former Urban Splash deputy chief executive, Nick Johnson, who served as chairman from 2006 to 2013.
