High five - North East cloud consultancy celebrates 5th anniversary

A North East cloud consultancy practice, devised over dinner by a group of friends just five years ago, has become one of the region’s leading success stories.

Cramlington-based SITS Group, which provides cloud computing solutions to private and public sector clients across the UK, was founded in 2008 by IT experts Phil Cambers, Paul Watson, Russell Henderson and Paul Rutherford – who spotted a gap in the market for a specialist consultancy.

Now, as it celebrates its fifth anniversary, the company, at Berrymoor Court, Northumberland Business Park, is also celebrating growth of 30 per cent in the last year and is on target to reach a turnover of £3m in the coming year.

SITS Group specialises in all areas of cloud computing, from virtual desktop and server consolidation to cloud management and disaster recovery solutions for clients including port authorities, legal practices, car manufacturers and public sector organisations.

This year it also saw off competition from global computer giants including Dell, to scoop the prestigious UK VMware Small Business Partner of the Year 2012 award.

SITS Group currently works with a number of leading North East companies and organisations including Bond Dickinson, formerly Dickinson Dees, Isos Housing, Muckle LLP, Unipres and Port of Tyne.

In addition it recently provided comprehensive virtualisation solutions for Newcastle law firm Sintons LLP.
