Oyster Festival sell out success

Event organisers are celebrating following a festival’s sell out success.

The annual Oyster Festival has sold more than 900 tickets for this year’s event, with a waiting list of over one hundred and more names being added every day.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival which takes place at Hardwick Hall Hotel on Friday, September 20.

John Adamson, Managing Director of Ramside Estates, said; “As we’re celebrating the 10th birthday of the Oyster Festival this year we wanted as many people as possible to be able to join the party.

“We’ve sold over 900 tickets and have got a lengthy waiting list, which is fantastic. It’s incredible to look back over a decade to see what we’ve achieved. We’ve established the Oyster Festival as one of the leading social events in the region and also raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for regional charities.”

This year funds raised on the day will be used to support Norton-based charity Daisy Chain, who support families affected by autism. The festival has raised more than £450,000 for charities since its inception in 2004 and the most raised in a single day at the festival was £52,000.

Since the inaugural event in 2004, the Oyster Festival has also attracted some top names in comedy to the North East with Al Murray, Ed Byrne and Tommy Tiernan to name just a few.

Highlights of this year’s festival include Got Talent comic pianist Kev Orkian, soul diva Diane Shaw, the Wildcats of Kilkenny and The Singing Irish Waiters.
