Durham firm sheds light on DurhamGate
A local firm is helping DurhamGate to shed some light on the £45m landmark development.
County Durham’s leading regeneration project is working with Spennymoor-based Thorn Lighting to help illuminate the area.
Providing installations for all of the development’s street and feature lighting, Thorn has most recently installed the lamp-posts aligning DurhamGate’s new main road, which will open soon.
Created through a partnership between Carillion Developments, part of Carillion plc, and regional property business, Arlington Real Estate, DurhamGate will feature commercial, living, retail and leisure facilities.
With more than £45m of investment already committed, DurhamGate has established itself as a landmark regeneration project.
DurhamGate, which is five miles south of Durham City, is already home to a number of businesses and organisations, which between them, already employ more than 1,000 people.
Allan Cook, director of Arlington Real Estate, said: “We are pleased to be working closely with Thorn Lighting, they have done a magnificent job of lighting up the community.
“Working in conjunction with a number of local businesses is a crucial element of the construction of DurhamGate.”
Thorn managing director Nigel Freeman added: “We are delighted to have contributed to the construction of DurhamGate, as the project will provide a significant boost to the local area and regional businesses like ourselves.”
