Estate agent reports buoyant Derbyshire property market
Local estate agent Eadon, Lockwood and Riddle (ELR) today said that the Derbyshire property market has entered a period of ‘good health’ after seeing a surge in activity at the regional office it opened earlier this year.
In the first three months of business at ELR’s Bakewell office, the estate agent has seen a flurry of sales, reporting that activity levels have increased by over 20% since the branch opened, reflecting both an increase in market share, as well as a much improved property market.
ELR, which opened its Bakewell office in May, also recently climbed to the top of the Rightmove league table for Derbyshire and estate agent Steph Gough believes the area’s thriving market will continue to flourish in line with positive property news across the UK.
Steph said: “Our decision to open a Bakewell office was carefully considered and we knew that there was a good demand for quality properties in the area, so it is no surprise that we’ve had a very busy first three months.
“However, the scale of demand has been somewhat unprecedented and we are excited to see confidence in the region’s buyers and sellers continue to grow as house prices pick up and Government-led initiatives start to encourage more people back to the market.
“Of course, the Derbyshire area is a fantastic place to live given how close it is to the Peak District National Park and with great transport links to Manchester and Sheffield, so with the market recovering we are expecting a lot more interest from people looking to buy a home in the area and also from those looking to move up the ladder to a larger property.”
ELR’s first customers at the Bakewell office Anthony Westwood and wife Merron called in to see the estate agent on their launch day to arrange a valuation and they had previously been concerned that the house would not sell through private sale and would instead need to be auctioned. ELR sold the property just four days later after receiving interest from three separate parties.
Anthony Westwood said: “We knew that the property was a good one however we initially thought it might be better suited to an ELR auction because of the amount of work it required. However, ELR provided us with a valuation and assured us that they had great confidence in being able to sell the property and lo and behold the house was snapped up just a few days later.
“The team at ELR’s Bakewell office were great to work with and I know that Steph is very experienced working in the area and understands properties really well and I’m sure this helped move things along as quickly as it happened. We were delighted to be ELR’s first customer in Bakewell and have now happily moved to our new home just hundred yards down the road.”
Established in 1840, ELR has 175 years’ experience within the property industry, and a reputation for selling the best homes in the South Yorkshire region - from terraced houses to larger country homes. More recently, the business has seen significant growth following the appointment of new Directors, and ultimately led to the expansion into North Derbyshire with the Bakewell office.
