North Yorks restaurant up for top awards

A popular North Yorkshire restaurant has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards.

The Wensleydale Heifer, a five-star ‘restaurant with rooms’ based in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, is gunning for two ‘Flavours of Herriot Country’ awards.

It has reached the final three in both the ‘Best Breakfast’ and ‘Best Restaurant’ categories.

This follows a recent AA Breakfast award, nomination in the Deliciously Yorkshire awards and being shortlisted for a prestigious Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose award.

The ‘Flavours of Herriot Country Awards’ celebrate food and drink businesses across the districts of Hambleton and Richmondshire.

They have been built on the success of the ‘Flavours of Hambleton’ awards, which were established by Hambleton District Council in 2004.

The Wensleydale Heifer was also recently awarded five stars by the AA and is one of only 61 ‘restaurant with rooms’ in the UK to receive the coveted five star award.

The title recognises the fantastic service at The Wensleydale Heifer and its awareness of each guest’s needs, its excellent quality beds and furnishings and special breakfasts on offer to guests.

Based in West Witton, North Yorkshire, each room at the Wensleydale Heifer has its own unique theme.

Owner David Moss said: “The Heifer has won a number of awards in the past but we never rest on our laurels and strive to continually improve and enhance our offering.

“We are in line for several awards this year, having already won a couple, and this is testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team and our commitment to very high standards of customer service and top quality food.”
