North East creative professionals set to benefit from design festival

Creative businesses and entrepreneurs from across the North East will showcase the region’s thriving sector next month as the Northern Design Festival hits Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.

The festival runs between October 10 -20 and will feature events on the future of the creative industries, advice for recent graduates and how creative businesses can capitalise on future trends.

Creative graduates and those in the early-to-mid stages of their career will find the bi-annual event specifically aimed at them, with talks, seminars and networking opportunities.

As part of the festival, the Globe Gallery in Newcastle will host MART; a showcase where 25 regional designers will sell their products.

Elsewhere on the programme is Maker Space, a night for innovators and creators across a wide spectrum of disciplines to share knowledge and practices, which runs on October 16 and 17.

  • Daisy de Villeneuve Artist Q&A and Exhibition
  • How to Capitalise on Future Trends talk by Trend Bible
  • Realtimelapse animations at Hatton Gallery
  • Shift Live No 2 workshops and party at Stephenson Works
  • Shipley Late featuring talks from leading practitioners Michael Eden and Drummond Masterton
  • Vibration Inspiration - music inspiring art competition culminating in an awards event and party
