Beer and vintage cars on menu at Widnes festival
Victoria Park in Widnes will be the venue for a festival of beers as part of this weekend’s North West Vintage Rally.
Star attraction is likely to be a beer simply called ‘Danny’, in honour of a famous local canal vessel.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Events Cllr Eddie Jones said “It is rare to find a beer named after a boat! It is being brewed as part of the Daniel Adamson project by the award-winning Frodsham Brewery based in the Weaver Valley.
“It has been well received by real-ale lovers at a local CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) branch. It is a great way for them to raise the profile of their volunteer project working to restore the former Manchester Ship Canal and Mersey Steam Tug-Tender Daniel Adamson. “
One cask contains 72 pints of cask conditioned ale, which, since it is a fresh, natural product containing live yeast, has only three days shelf life.
Halton Borough Council is happy pleased to still be able to offer this kind of event for the people of Halton.
The family weekend events are set to attract tens of thousands of people. The rally will also feature classic cars and bikes, fair organs, vintage machinery, family entertainment and much more from 10am to 5pm each day.
Beers available will include:
