Northumberland entrepreneur launches hamper business
A Northumberland Bed and Breakfast owner has decided to launch a new income stream using her love of local produce.
Ann Maddison, together with Carole Craig-Gilby, is launching the Northumberland Hamper Emporium as an addition to her Simonburn Tearooms and bed and breakfast business.
The boxes, filled with marmalades, jams, ales and other local produce are decorated and come adorned with black satin ribbons.
Carole, who has experienced forty years working in the medical profession, first had the idea for Hampers from Northumberland when she creatively designed some hampers for her local drama group at Riding Mill.
Speaking about her new venture Ann said: “I am passionate about Northumberland and the wonderful range of locally produced products which are available, and I am also keen to support other local enterprises.
“My business already contributes to the local economy and the Hamper Emporium will also be based here in Simonburn and showcased in the shop.”
The pair will launch the business at Langley Castle on September 26.
