Teesside training firm gets good Oftsed rating

The TTE Technical Training Group has achieved an impressive overall Grade 2 ‘Good’ rating in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Teesside-based TTE achieved a ‘Good’ standard in all inspection categories for its apprenticeship training, including outcomes for learners, quality of teaching, learning and assessment and effectiveness of leadership and management.

The independent assessment, which is highly-regarded by employers working with TTE, confirms the continued commitment the training provider has to young people on Teesside and local industry as it has done for the past 23 years.

Ofsted inspectors also awarded TTE an overall Grade 2 for its ability to deliver quality practical engineering training and assessment.

Most notably, the inspection highlighted TTE’s success in providing apprentices with work-relevant skills that meet the requirements of the engineering sector.

The inspection report also confirmed that apprentices at TTE ‘acquire high levels of knowledge and understanding, which they apply well in the workplace’.

Managing director of the firm Steve Grant beamed: “We are extremely proud to receive this validation from Ofsted, which confirms we are good at everything we do.

“Being able to provide industry with skilled, competent and motivated apprentices is essential if this area is to maintain its skilled workforce in the future. This inspection provides employers with confidence to invest in apprenticeships at TTE, which will play a key role in their future skills and employment planning.”

Inspectors acknowledged TTE apprentices ‘develop good vocational skills, team working and problem solving skills. The development of English and, particularly mathematics, is good’.

Grant added: “This inspection result will help students with their career and training decisions as they know that TTE gives them a great start in life.”

From its industry-standard training centre in South Bank, TTE delivers practical vocational training supported by classroom-based activities.

Trainees spend two years at TTE working towards a Vocational Study Programme, which upon successful completion, can lead to securing an employee-sponsored Advanced Apprenticeship.
