Language school translates as Downing deal
Property group Downing has sold one of its commercial properties in Liverpool’s Hatton Garden district to the privately-owned international language school Liverpool City College.
The 1,892 sq. ft. ground floor property at Downing’s Eden Square development will see the college move from its former base on Fenwick Street and be ready for September’s enrolment date. The consideration was not disclosed.
The award winning college’s facilities include new state-of-the-art classrooms, a common room and an onsite crèche for the school’s twenty students.
Founded in 2010, Liverpool City College is accredited by The Independent Schools Inspectorate and provides courses that allow students to learn English along with skills. Students can combine their passion for languages with other aspects of learning whether it be academic, business or leisure.
Robin Ellis, senior agency surveyor at Downing, said: “We’re delighted the college chose Eden Square to be its new home. The city centre location is ideal for students and staff and the high quality of the building proved very attractive for the buyer.”
The college’s principal, Lay Lim: said: “We’re very much looking forward to relocating to Eden Square. We are passionate about this city and excited about Eden Square being our new home.”
Liverpool based Chartered Architects MgMaStudio and Skyline Property Solutions have collaborated with Liverpool City College to deliver the project.
