David Price Food Services falls into administration

North East food delivery firm, David Price Food Services Ltd, has entered into administration with the loss of 109 jobs.

Administrators at KPMG managed to save 29 jobs by selling the firm’s Wallsend and Glasgow operations to Yorkshire-based Ice Company Distribution Ltd, shortly after being appointed.

The chilled haulage division of David Price has stopped trading with the loss of 109 jobs. Five employees at the head office in Wallsend will be retained in the short term, to assist with the administration.

Administrators said increased costs to the business, including fuel and utilities, had exacerbated a poor trading period, forcing the firm into administration.
