Fewer opt out of pension schemes than expected

Fewer people than are opting out of workplace pension schemes, according to a survey from the National Saving’s Trust.

Following the introduction of ‘auto-enrolment’, just 9% of workers have chosen to opt out, reports the BBC.

It was originally thought that a third of employees would opt out of the scheme and the survey found those who did leave said they could not afford to maintain payments into the scheme.
