Home appliance acquisition saves 67 jobs in Blackpool
Merseyside firm Glen Dimplex Home Appliances (GDHA) has acquired Blackpool’s Britannia Living business.
GDHA, based in Prescot, is a privately owned group behind appliance brands Stoves, Belling, New World and Lec. The deal is said to be part of the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen its position in the UK premium appliance market.
Britannia Living launched in the UK in 1995. Its portfolio of brands includes Britannia, Bertazzoni and designer cooker hood manufacturer BEST, but the company went into administration on September 26.
Russell Cash and David Thornhill, partners at FRP Advisory, were appointed joint administrators and reached a deal to sell the business to GDHA, saving all 67 Britannia jobs at their Blackpool base.
Russell Cash said: “We are thrilled to have secured the future of this long-standing business and the employment of its entire staff. We wish the purchaser and everyone involved with the business continued success in the future.”
GDHA chief executive Denver Hewlett said: “We are delighted that we have acquired such a great brand with an impressive history and are confident we can support its future development.
“This acquisition supports our long-term strategy of developing and expanding GDHA’s presence in the premium appliance market.”
