Hundreds of residents to benefit from reroofing deal after Keepmoat wins £6m contract
Hundreds of tenants across Blaenau Gwent will benefit from new roofs this winter thanks to a £6m refurbishment scheme by Tai Calon Community Housing, the largest social landlord in the county.
The work is being carried out by housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat.
The builder has been working with Tai Calon for the past three years to help bring its 6,000 plus homes up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS).
The scheme is good news for eight apprentices from the area who are being employed by Keepmoat on its projects.
Keepmoat, which is re-roofing 760 Tai Calon properties, has also made a commitment to employ local contractors based within a 25 mile radius of the work. Keepmoat’s Regional Director, Neil Baxter said: “Being able to work with Tai Calon on this contract is a real endorsement of the high-quality work we have carried out for Tai Calon previously.
“We are really excited about this new project and making home improvements which will have a real benefit to the lives of Tai Calon tenants.”
Bill Pearch, Director of Assets and Property Services at Tai Calon, said: “We are delighted to be working again with Keepmoat on this scheme. When completed, the new roofs will make a huge difference to the lives of tenants across the county.”
