Another gong for growing legal practice
Leeds business law practice, DWF, has been awarded Law Firm of the Year (31+ Partners) at the prestigious Yorkshire Lawyer Awards, cementing the firm’s position as a major player in the Yorkshire legal market.
From 35 people in 2008, DWF’s presence in the city has grown to over 340 today - all housed at its Bridgewater Place offices on Water Lane, where it recently took additional floor space to accommodate everyone.
It offers a full range of services with teams specialising on all aspects of law, as well as providing specialist advice across a range of sectors including central and local government; energy and industrials; retail; food and hospitality; financial services; technology, media and telecommunications; and transport.
The award recognises DWF’s rapid growth and investment over the past 12 months, which saw the practice acquire law firm Cobbetts in February 2013, catapulting it into the top 20 law firms in the UK and further strengthening the firm’s expertise in areas such as banking, corporate, insurance, litigation and real estate.
DWF beat stiff competition from global law firm Squire Sanders and litigation specialists Stewarts Law at the awards to take the title.
James Haddleton, executive partner for DWF in Leeds and last year’s Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year, commented: “We are proud to be an integral part of the Yorkshire business community and this is a brilliant achievement for the firm. The result is testament to the hard work and dedication of our people and the continued growth over the past year.”
