Law firm restructures as key man retires

Tees Valley law firm Archers Law has appointed a new partner to head its corporate and commercial division as one of its leading solicitors prepares to step down.

John Richardson will retire at the end of November after 23 years at the Stockton-based firm.

The corporate and commercial team will then be led by David Adams, who joined Archers Law in 2007.

Mr Richardson, who will continue to advise Archers Law as a consultant solicitor after his retirement, said: “I have been with the firm since 1989 and it has been a great privilege for me to work with many clients, staff and professional contacts.

“Whilst I am stepping down, I am delighted on behalf of the firm that David will become a partner within the corporate and commercial team.”

Richardson has almost 40 years’ legal experience in the Tees Valley area specialising in company and business law, advising SMEs owners in all sectors of trade, industry and commerce.

In his time with Archers, he has acted on many successful company sales and acquisitions, both small as well as larger, more complex deals.

David Adams hopes to continue to develop the excellent relationships Archers Law has with the business community across the region.

He said: “John has been a great mentor to me and he also gave me the opportunity to develop and grow my network so that I could continue to build the firm’s profile.”

Archers Law’s corporate and commercial division has recently added to its team with the recruitment of legal assistant Joanne Kimmitt, who has re-joined the firm to initially assist David with the drafting and reviewing of corporate/commercial documents and with her experience will also manage the company formations, compliance and company secretarial duties on behalf of the department.
