Water Brands appoints Yorkshire’s Aberfield Communications

The Harrogate-based owner and producer of Harrogate Spring Water and Thirsty Planet has appointed Aberfield Communications to manage its PR and social media.

Independently-owned Water Brands Group has tasked the agency with further enhancing Harrogate Spring Water’s top 10 position in the growing UK bottled water market, worth an estimated £1.7bn annually.

For charity water Thirsty Planet, Leeds-based Aberfield’s role is to encourage mums and families to prioritise ethical hydration and support a charity bottled water brand which operates in the most rigorous, transparent way.

Thirsty Planet guarantees a fixed donation to award-winning charity Pump Aid with every bottle sold.

Nicky Reeve, marketing executive at Water Brands, based in Harrogate, said: “Having enjoyed record sales over the summer period, we’re now forging ahead with substantial development plans to further improve our position in the soft drinks market.

“Aberfield will help communicate this to our target audiences and take our overall brand profile to the next level.

“We also want to communicate the simplicity of Thirsty Planet and the efficacy of our relationship with independent charity, Pump Aid.”

Nina Hands, senior consultant at Aberfield, added: “Harrogate Spring Water and Thirsty Planet both have great back stories but have very different propositions.

“We’re proud to be representing both brands at a time of significant growth.”

Posting 15 per cent year on year growth for 2012, and gross sales of 10m bottles sold in July, Water Brands supplies customers ranging from restaurants and hotels to airlines and supermarkets.
