Law firm packs punch with new addition

A well respected solicitor has joined a Teesside law firm as partner to grow its services to commercial and corporate clients as the economic recovery gathers pace.

Elaine McLaine, who is known in the region for her work with companies and academies, has joined Punch Robson.

As the only firm based in Middlesbrough with a dedicated business and company law team, its client base and caseload are expected to expand with Elaine’s appointment.

Elaine, who has worked at major law firms and smaller niche practices across the region, said the recovering economy was leading to increased activity for solicitors.

“I see evidence of the banks being more active and there is activity in terms of regeneration and investment. I’m working on company sales and restructuring that businesses may have been putting off but now have the confidence to push ahead with,” she explained.

Elaine, who has worked on several academy conversions, is also advising a number of schools as they seek to convert, including Bydales School, in Marske.

She said: “Punch Robson has been on Teesside since 1877 and is a firm that cares about its clients and delivering high quality legal services to the commercial and corporate sector as well as private clients.

“It also cares about its staff, which is shown in how long people stay here, and about bringing on the next generation of solicitors.”

Punch Robson, which is part of the national Quality Solicitors brand, also has offices in Coulby Newham and Ingleby Barwick and employs around 70 people including seven partners.
