Landscape consultancy snap up rivals

Environmental outfit SLR Consulting, who operate Newcastle offices and landscaped much of of the city’s quayside, have acquired rival firm, Cooper Partnership.

It is the third acquisition this year for SLR who are headquartered in Bristol.

The two firms will merge services to form one of the largest landscape consultancy outfits in the UK.

Julian Cooper, managing director for Cooper Partnership, said: “After over 20 years of building our practice into one of the most respected landscape planning consultancies in the UK, we wanted to expand into new areas. We believe that joining forces with a growing and successful firm like SLR, is the ideal way to achieve this.

“Both Cooper Partnership and SLR have a reputation for excellence and a client focussed approach and, together, this move will enable us to gain a bigger share of the green infrastructure, landscape planning and landscape design market.”

Alan Edwards, SLR director, said: “We are delighted to have Cooper Partnership join us to expand our Bristol team. They are a great addition to our company, enabling us to develop our landscape architecture consultancy – something we have sought to do for many years.”

“We look forward to introducing the Cooper team to our clients and to utilising their expertise across our seven core business sectors within the UK and overseas.”

Recent Cooper Partnership projects include; carrying out hard and soft landscape design for a new acute hospital in Bristol and carrying out a townscape and visual impact assessment for the proposed new Greenwich University.

Another significant project over the last 10 years has involved planning and design work for the M2 widening and Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Cooper Partnership managed the environmental assessment and led a team of green consultants as well as taking the project through planning, design and management and presenting the scheme to a Parliamentary Select Committee.
