Manchester contractors to start work on Walton Hall
Manchester contractor F Parkinson has been appointed to build an extension and carryout refurbishments at Walton Hall and Gardens in Warrington.
Walton Hall and Gardens is a popular venue for weddings and other celebrations.
As part of the work, a new extension will be added to the rear of the hall. The new building will be constructed on the footprint of part of the original hall which was demolished in the 1970s. It has been designed to reflect the historic setting and to complement the listed building. When finished, it will provide new public toilets for people enjoying the formal gardens, bowling and crazy golf.
The children’s zoo and playground are both popular areas in the park, and a family-friendly WC and babychange facility will be constructed near the entrance to the zoo, providing facilities closer to the play areas accessible to everyone.
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “This is an exciting development for the town and for the region as we know Walton Hall and Gardens is a valued and much loved tourist attraction. Crowds of people flock to Walton Hall and Gardens throughout the year and they will no doubt be very excited to see the brand new facility next year.”
Work is expected to start on site in November with a view to it being completed by spring 2014.
F Parkinson Ltd operates from its three regional offices in Blackpool, Manchester and York. The company is an SME building contractor that undertakes various refurbishment, extension and new build schemes.
