Positivity in construction, despite national figures
Construction and development specialist Southdale believes there are positive signs for the sector following the release of official figures.
According to figures issued on Friday morning, national construction output fell by 0.1 per cent in August, following a rise of 2.8 per cent in July.
Southdale’s Group managing director Paul Moore said: “We are seeing positivity in the market, with projects starting and being won across all three of our regions, Yorkshire, the North East and North West.
“While the figures do not necessarily reflect this, with a slight decrease in national output in August, we are hearing positivity from colleagues across the industry in the North of England.
“We are on target to achieve in excess of £80m of work as a group in the 2013/4 year and have recently launched a new division, Greendale, to take us into the energy efficiency upgrades market.
“This is part of our drive to continue our second successful emergence from recession as we look to the future with cautious, but realistic confidence.”
